There are several reasons why I am going to complete this ride to the land of men that wear skirts, and long haired horny cows! Firstly, I am mad, secondly I have had the personal experience of the facilities at the Cancer Unit at the RUH. Cathy my gorgeous Wife (and mummy of my boys) was diagnosed with an 80cm tumour last May. Since then we have been regular visitors to the Royal United Hospital.
We have been dealing with the diagnosis, treatment, and the emotional roller coaster of dealing with Cancer, whilst looking after two young boys and running our business.
With all of that going on I thought I needed ‘a little something’ to focus on and take my mind off of things… A 1,000 km bike ride seems like the perfect distraction, Oh and I will be doing the ironman 70.3 in June!
Seriously though, I want to do what I can to say thank you to the team at the RUH and help provide some better facilities for anyone else unfortunate enough to have to tackle this terrible disease!
